About the author:

My grandparents Jesse Herbert Corley and Mollie May "Macie" Lamb were born in Oklahoma Indian Territory, Sallisaw, Oklahoma in 1906, one year before statehood. They are both descendents of families in Sequoyah County who settled in this area before the turn of the century. My family names are Watts (changed from Watson after the Civil War), Corley, Lamb, Tidwell and Woirtinek. My work in surveying these cemeteries represents hundreds of hours of genealogical research and time spent walking these cemeteries and taking photographs. The pictures on the Beulah Baptist Cemetery (Marshall County, Alabama) page were kindly taken by a volunteer on the RAOGK website.

My intentions in creating this website are to assist fellow genealogists in their research in Sequoyah County and other areas which I have researched. I do not live in Sequoyah County and I am unable to assist others with specific requests for information. I cannot guarantee the reliability of all the information contained on these pages. With the exception of Sallisaw City Cemetery, the cemeteries that I have surveyed have been rural cemeteries with no reliable source of information regarding unmarked graves. Due to the age and weathering of some of the markers in these cemeteries, some stones are simply unreadable. There are also a large number of unmarked graves in these cemeteries.
